In the packaging industry, companies that produce rigid boxes are often also responsible for filling them with products.
The Client's request was to automate the filling of boxes produced in line with the product (an eyeglass case) and a warranty certificate, while also integrating box labeling into the system.
A new challenge to which Zetapunto responded by creating the Hawk robotic box filling station.
Several steps in the filling process need to be automated:
Solution
The solution, created in collaboration with Zechini Gra.For, a leader in bookbinding, converting, and packaging machinery, consists of three systems: a sheeter for certificates, a bottom-up labeling system, and a Delta robot for picking and placing eyeglass holders.
The system fits into the customer's existing layout, replacing the manual filling portion. The bottom of the box leaves the machine that makes it and is conveyed to the Zetapoint station. The bottom is then labeled on the move and, at the same time, the warranty certificate is inserted into the box.
The bottom then arrives in the robot's work area, where it is clamped and equalized. The robot then picks up the product from special magazines and deposits it in the bottom of the box. Picking is done by means of a pneumatic parallel gripper, properly made so as not to mark the product.
The bottom of the box is then released and, in the outflow movement, a sensor checks for the presence of the label on the bottom before sending it to the capping machine, which pairs it with the box lid.
